“Felpham Fields”
Spring Newsletter
Members of “Felpham Fields”.
As I write this Newsletter the Sun is shining and the daffodils and crocus are out in full. That said warm coats are still the order of the day with this bitter Easterly wind………… but Spring is now officially here!
Some important information for you in this edition:-
Firstly:- VE Day 80th Celebrations Monday 5th May. Some of our Members have shown an interest to mark the day (May Bank Holiday Monday) by getting the bunting out and setting up on the verges outside their properties to eat and have a tipple or two (and perhaps even a sing song or two). We hope others join in and celebrate the occasion, enjoy!.
Secondly:- a reminder for you to put the date of our Annual General Meeting in your Calendars!!
Date for next AGM 2025 will be held on Tuesday 17th June,
7-00pm – 8-30pm,
Felpham Memorial Village Hall.
Formal Paperwork to be associated with the meeting will come out in advance much nearer the date but for now please just make a note of the date and time.
General.
Traffic Control:- Your Committee have been working hard on your behalf to explore permissions with the aim of controlling “non residential Through Traffic” through “Felpham Fields”. This has been a continuing discussion point at Committee since our incorporation date and something that crops up in discussion with many of you, the residents and members. It becomes especially important when building works are taking place on our estate and the roads become congested with non residential vehicles using Ley Road as a cut through to bypass Summerly Lane, traffic and speeds bumps. This non-residential “Felpham Fields” traffic, makes pedestrian access difficult and sometimes dangerous. The situation had become more severe in recent months with numerous roadworks taking place in the surrounds. We can now report that following a review of our legal position with Rights of Way on the Estate from the WSCC Lawyers and Legal team, we have started to explore a number of options to reduce/prohibit “non residential traffic flow”. The options include new road signage to prohibit Non- Residential Vehicular access, and also proposals to restrict “non residential traffic flow” through potential occasional road closures of Ley Road. It is early days in formulating these proposals, as there is a lot more work to be done to fine tune costs etc but the aim is to have some costed options to circulate in time for discussion at our AGM in June where the proposals would be discussed and if agreed implemented in the next Operating year.
Openreach Fibre Provision
I am pleased to see that residents are taking up the option of fibre provision on the Estate. We know this as we receive from Openreach and their sub contractors requests for permissions to work and we are granting Wayleaves for the provision of duct on Company property. Can I ask that you advise us of any work to provide telecommunication services at your property in order that we can ensure the correct legal provisions are in place before service is provided.
